I was an RAAF photographer, supporting No. 2 Squadron Canberra aircraft, operating out of Phan Rang air base. Part of the VS 35th Tactical Air Force, the No. 2 Squadron operated eight aircraft on daily bombing missions. My role was to load and unload aerial cameras in the aircraft that photographed bomb damage for assessment. I also had all of the ground photography tasks of public relations, base and squadron activities and technical photography such as defects and ‘intel’ photography.
