Because I’d been in the Training Team I felt like I’d been in something really worthwhile. I really felt proud. The people in the Training Team were the best trained. So you might ask: why did they pick me? Well, I was a good medic. You didn’t get into that unit if you were not well trained. No way in the world! Some of them were Second World War veterans; some had been in Korea or Malaya. And some had done four or five tours of Vietnam. What they don’t know about the Army is not worth knowing. These are the guys I was with. I felt very safe with them when we went out in the bush. They were fabulous.
