Excerpt from Story Board

I came home from Vietnam and everything turned off very quickly. It was like turning off a light switch, which was quite difficult. I think it was the level of your lifestyle and what you were doing meant so much. Everything was fairly fast and go, go, go at times. Then you came home and all of a sudden it was nothing. And I think that’s what a lot of people have trouble with.

I remember my mum telling me one day, not long after I got home, “There’s something about you, son, that’s not the same”.

At the Men’s Shed we all get together and contribute in some way… Twice a week we come here. The actual qualification for being in the Men’s Shed is to be ex-military, not necessarily returned veterans. It’s great. Military people have a language of their own. If you talk to military people you have a lot of things in common.
